Located in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale, Lemonade Insurance Agency transformed a historic 1940s church into a state-of-the-art creative office space. This $4.7 million commercial remodel and adaptive reuse project, led by Mackenzie Collier Interiors and a local architecture firm, preserved the building’s historic charm while modernizing it into a vibrant, functional workplace that perfectly reflects Lemonade’s brand identity.
MCI provided comprehensive design services, including sourcing flooring, cabinetry, paint, tile, lighting, and plumbing fixtures. Sustainability was a key focus, with much of the lounge furniture sourced from local vintage shops and many accessories thrifted to reduce waste. The space also highlights local craftsmanship, featuring works by Phoenix-based female artists, vibrant wall murals, and a custom fiber art installation that bring color and creativity to the environment.
The project was designed with both functionality and culture in mind. Each lounge area was given a distinct personality to support collaboration and private conversations, while the overall layout balances historic preservation with modern efficiency. The phased renovation accommodated Lemonade’s growing team, allowing the space to evolve with their needs over several years.
Since the client was based internationally, much of the collaboration was handled virtually. MCI took on the role of the client’s eyes and ears on-site, ensuring every detail—from construction to furnishings—was executed to perfection. This approach allowed the team to advocate for the client, navigating challenges and delivering a space that met and exceeded expectations.
The Lemonade Insurance project is a prime example of how thoughtful interior design can transform a historic building into a vibrant workplace, blending sustainability, local artistry, and modern functionality to create a truly inspiring environment.
